JALO CAKES AND HOW TO MAKE IT


JALO CAKE
 
if you arrive in Riau, especially in Kampar district, don't forget to stop by the Lake Bingkuang Bridge.
Because there are many sold riau specialties, namely cake ,alo.
Jalo cake is a typical food of Kampar district. Bengkalis, Siak, Rokan Hilir, part of Rokan Hulu.
but the difference is in the full range if in Kampar district, the complement is sarikayo, sweets and gravy used for compote. Whereas for Bengkalis, Siak, Rokan, downstream and part of Rokan Hulu, the complement is meat curry (pacri nenas).
 
The main ingredient is flour in the shape of a jalo because it is formed with a mixture that has entered a funnel-shaped mold. Which has 4 - 5 funnels.
Materials and dosages for making cakes:
1. ½ kg flour
2. Chicken eggs 2 grains (yellow only used)
3. Margarine 2 - 3 spoons that have been thawed.
4. Grind sand 2-3 tablespoons
5. Vanilla 1 pack
6. Smooth salt 1 tablespoon flat
7. Cook 3 ½ cups of water / 1000 cc

How to make :
1.  Sifter flour has been given salt and vanilla with eggs, granulated sugar and stir well.
2.  Add a little boiled water - little by little while stirring (with mixer) at most 3 cups. Stir until smooth. if the liquid mixture adds flour, if thick the mixture add water.
3.  Add the melted margarine and mix well then the mixture is filtered to smooth.
4.  Heat Teflon and spread margarine.
5.  Put the mixture into the mold.
6.  Then rotate the mold over Teflon (so that it forms a net)
7.  Cook until cooked.
8.  Fold or roll according to taste.
9.  Serve in a flat plate / chili dish and serve with the complement / sauce.
10. For sale can be packaged in boxes or plastic bags.


COMPLETE CAKE / HALF / SAUCE CAKE / USED FOR STRONG
Materials and doses used:
1. 3½ ONS palm sugar
2. Coconut that is cooking / coconut milk 3½ ONS makes 5 cups with water.
3. Granulated sugar 2-3 tablespoons
4. Vanilla 1 pack
5. Small cinnamon 5 cm 5 pieces
6. Cloves 5 pieces
7. Salt 1 flat spoon
8. Bread dough mesh 2-3 spoons so the sauce is thick
9. 2 pieces of pandan leaves

How to make :
1.  Palm sugar, cinnamon, cloves are given 1 ½ cups of water until liquid then strain.
2.  Add coconut milk, granulated sugar, vanilla, salt then cook with medium heat then stir - stir. Then add pandan leaves.
3.  Give the cake mixture so that the sauce is thick and then cook and the pandan leaves are removed.
4.  Serve with the cake Jalo, when it is sold put the sauce into the plastic.
